This series draws inspiration from Ito Jakuchu's "Herbaceous peonies and butterflies (Colorful Realm of Living Beings)." The flowers depicted in the series are based on the Hibiscus syriacus, the national flower of Korea.

The original image was processed using the AI software Stable Diffusion to detect depth information, and a new image was regenerated from that data. Necessary parts were cut out using graphic software Adobe Photoshop, and then combined with outputs from TouchDesigner, a software specializing in generative animation, to be printed on acrylic panels.

These panels are divided into transparent, semi-transparent, and opaque sections, and their textures and expressions change depending on the combination with different sparkling papers in each piece. Although the series is output as prints, it is defined as digital art created entirely through digital processes, meant to be physically tangible.

The butterfly motif in this series stems from an experience of encountering a dying butterfly in Tokyo. Butterflies typically end their lives on the ground or in hidden places, but this butterfly was weakened on a concrete surface. At that time, all I could do was pick it up and place it on the soil. The sight of the butterfly desperately trying to live, in contrast with the passing people, was both beautiful and deeply sad. I don't know what happened to the butterfly afterward, but I created this series praying it could reach a beautiful world.
Moreover, butterflies are said to have various spiritual meanings. This series is also imbued with a message akin to a charm, hoping that those who hold it will be guided by the butterfly to a beautiful world. I intend to explain this meaning further with each piece.
